November 2007 - Part One.
Say and I went to the GOMA christmas markets today then wandered through both the GOMA and the old gallery. I don't know why I don't go more often. It makes me feel so at home and inspired.
The first exciting thing we saw was the Warhol exhibition being set up!
I do love Warhol, he wouldn't come in my top 5, or probably even top 10 artists but he's just so influential and fun. He makes me think about how fun art can be.
There was a beautiful interactive work by an Asian artist inviting viewers to write private and public letters in three different booths and either put addresses on the them for them to be posted or leave them on the walls of the booth for others to read.
We then wandered over to the old gallery and I do believe I squealed when I saw they had 5 Brett Whiteley paintings. Definitely one of my favourites, his work may be a bit depressing but its so expressive and honest. I love it so much.
Of course we also had to play with Yayoi Kasuma's balls.
And then another reason to sqeaul . . .
After the modern art we wandered through the more historic sections or as one lady we passed put it "This is REAL art." (I want to grab those people and shake them. Or introduce them to Jondi . . . )

#80 - Buy Something off Etsy & #81 - Buy 5 original artworks that I love - at least one from Black Apple
Two list items in one hit!
I bought some prints from The Black Apple off her Etsy store a couple of weeks ago. One print is for me while another is destined for a special someone for Christmas so I was desperately hoping they would arrive before Christmas. They did! With weeks to go they winged their way to me all the way from the states.
The one I bought myself is called Fox in the Snow and I love it so very much. It looks so cute above my bookshelf.

#97 - Get New Glasses
I have been meaning to get new glasses for a while now and when my optomotrist told me I really do wear my contacts far too much (24/7) I decided now was the time. I spent hours in front of the mirror (nothing new for me), trying on pair after pair. Finally I decided on a pair and $144 later (thanks to the wondrous MBF) I am now one of those trendy people with trendy glasses.
Well I do need to live up to my Trendy name after all.

#62 - Find a Favourite Wine
#51 - Volunteer for a Charity
A few of us at work have Volunteered with Red Cross to be Tele-cross volunteers. We are given an elderly person to call every day to make sure they are ok (i.e. alive) and also just for a bit of companionship as a lot of them don't really have any family or friends.
I've been doing it for a couple of weeks now and my Christine is the cutest thing I have ever come across. She can hardly hear me so just chats about what ever she wants, giggles at everything (almost like an elderly, female Dr Hibbert) and NEVER asks me anything about myself, which is quite odd when you've been speaking to someone every day for 2 weeks.
I'm not allowed to meet her in person but I imagine her to be something like this.
She is British after all . . .
